Some people have certain days for getting married,
Monday for health,
Tuesday for wealth,
Wednesday the best day of all,
Thursday for losses,
Friday for crosses, and
Saturday no day at all.
People would not commence ploughing only on a Friday, they say it's not lucky. If you step across a plough you should step back again or your crops wont grow.
People who are changing from one house to another wont change only on a Friday, they say it is not lucky. It is an old remark to put out the ashes on any day except on Monday and Friday. There is also a remark on days children are born.
Monday's child is full in the face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woes,
Thursday's child has far to go,(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
