Once upon a time a man named Jack the Boo or Jack Mac Geoghegan, one of the famous Mac Geoghegans that lived in Jamestown, near this place and he had two very valuable horses. At that time, if a Protestant offered a Catholic £5 for a horse that was worth £20, he would have to give the horse. Jack went to Mullingar one day and he brought the horses with him. A Protestant man came up to him and said he would give him £5 for the horses. Jack MacGeoghegan drew a revolver and shot the horses and then he said to the Protestant "Now you may have them".
