- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)A rush was got and the green skin peeled off. The white stuff is then put in grease left there until soaked. It was taken out and put to dry. When it was dry it was ready for use. When the new candles came into use these were done away with.Mrs Ellen Egan, Ivy House, Castlepollard has a spinning wheel. She gets the wool, teases it, cards it with carders and rolls it. The rolls are spun and the thread doubled and twisted. Although she is nearly eighty years of age she still spins the yarn for stockings which her grandchildren wear coming to school.Collected by Joseph Kelly aged 14 years.
