found there. Long ago Sheridan and Harlin were the names most common there. There were four families of Harlins and three of Sheridans.
They all emigrated to Australia. The landlord, Preston, took their land. One of my ancestors John Harlin - Sean Mor as they called him coming back bought back the land again. James Sheridan also returned.
The houses are all long, one storey houses with thatched roofs. They were built in a hollow and near water because at that time there had been great storms.
A poem named "Assey" was composed by Philip Daly.
Murray, O'Brien, McNamee, Crinion, McCabe and Harlin are the names of the families in this townland.
