Ar an leathanach seo

    Another old custom was to throw rice on the newly married couple.
    It was a custom to go match-making on St. Brigid's night. If a girl wished to obtain a spouse she would go the house of a neighbour with a bundle of rushes, knock at the door and say "Open your hospitable door and let St Brigid in." In reply a voice from within would say
    "You are welcome St. Brigid."
    Then someone would ask the man of the house if he would take the girl as his daughter-in-law. The reply was always a favourable one and the couple were married in a month. It was also a custom
