Ar an leathanach seo

It is thought unlucky if the bride enters the church before the groom. The throwing of an old shoe after the newly married couple was also thought lucky.
If the sun is shining on that day it was though the couple was happy for it says
"Happy is the bride the sun shines on."
Another old custom was to throw rice on the newly married couple.
It was a custom to go match-making on St. Brigid's night. If a girl wished to obtain a spouse she would go the house of a neighbour with a bundle of rushes, knock at the door and say "Open your hospitable door and let St Brigid in." In reply a voice from within would say
"You are welcome St. Brigid."
Then someone would ask the man of the house if he would take the girl as his daughter-in-law. The reply was always a favourable one and the couple were married in a month. It was also a custom(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
