Even to-day when nearly all superstitions are abandoned there are certain times of year when people fear getting married, because some old tale has lingered on concerning that particular day or date. One old proverb says “Marry in May and you’lol rue the day” and those who receive the Sacrament of Matrimony in the month of May are very few and far between. Marriage takes place most frequently in this district after Easter and in the Summer. It a marriage takes on a rainy day it is though locally that nothing but hardship and trouble will await the unfortunate couple in the future. “Happy is the bride that the sun shines on” is an old proverb which tries to tell(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
