    the place when emigration was open.
    The land of the townland is fairly fertile. On the north and south it is hard ground. It is under bog land in the centre.
    There are no woods in the townland now but there were some years ago.
    There is a castle in James Sexton's land in Donogan. There was supposed to be a man living in that castle who used to throw a stone weight from the castle to Gallery's Mountain a distance of a quarter of a mile. This man's name was Jim McGrath.
    There was a an old house in my father's land. It belonged to a woman named "Judy an bótair". This woman's son was drowned in a drain near the old house. The drain is ever since called "oíge an bátaid".
