    St Colm Cille was a prophet and he foretold a great many things that have come true. In this locality the people are great for quoting "the Prophecies". These are handed down from father to son and from mother to daughter for the past ten generations until they have come down to our own time. It is the only old custom that has been kept alive through all the generations. These " Prophecies " are being quoted from morning till night in every house in our district from the mud wall cabin to the great mansion and from the baby in the cradle to the old granny in the corner.
    Here are "the Prophecies".

    There shall be a sign-post at every cross-road to direct the stranger,
    Carriages shall run without horses and horses shall run without heads
    The Summer shall not be distinguished from the Winter exept for the green leaves on the trees.
    A road shall run from Clonmel to Golden and the men shall
