  1. A Song

Farewell to freedom, and relatives at home and far away,

    I
Farewell to Freedom, and relatives at home and far away,
The sword of death will cut away my thread of life this day,
With hand and heart, I write these lines for my countrymen to see.
That I am going to face my God, on a faithful gallow’s tree.
    II
May God forgive my enemies, who brought me here to die,
Their conscience will accuse them as long as they are alive.
When their cruel and wicked evidence against me did expire,
The jury did not hesitate to brand me with the crime.
