  1. A poem written after Sarsfield successful ride to Ballyneety.
The night fell dark at Limerick and everything was still.
Twas for the foes in ambush we lay beside the hill.
Like lions we waited to rush upon and prey.
With gallant Sarsfield at our back by the dawning of the day.
    II
From Dublin came the foemen with guns and shoes and all,
To gain the walls of Limerick they would want for ten times more.
But little was their dreaming that there to work their doom
We came with gallant Sarsfield all down from wild Sliabh Bloom
    III
At the deadly hour of midnight each man lay on his steed
And through the streets of Cullen we dashed like lightning speed
And o'er its hills like thunder.
