  1. Not long ago I heard of a story about Walshe's House in Ballyavareen [ Ballyvareen ] between Murroe and Cappamore. It is about a mile in from the road and there is a nice avenue leading into it. The house was haunted. One night the work-man went out after the day's work to a neighbouring house playing cards. It was twelve o' clock when he left the house to go home. When he was halfway he saw a vision walking before him, all of a sudden it disappeared. He kept going until he reached the door of the dwelling house. He opened the door, all of a sudden he got a stroke into the face and he was knocked down. He saw no more until he woke next morning.
