“The greyhaired Lover
As the sun was sinking behind Knockfierna
The heavenly dews they began to fall,
And from my cottage I straightway rambled,
To meet my loved one by the bridge wall.

With hasty steps she approached to meet me
Her tiny hand she puts in mine.
And as I kissed her I murmured softly
My long lost angel, my madeline.

Her face and figure is framed for beauty
Her eyes resemble the twinkling stars,
Her silvery hair as grey as Grandpa's
