    John Coughy was a great poet. He was born in Rockhill, Bruree and lived up to ten years ago. He was a farmer and shopkeeper. He composed poems about hurling matches and other matters. He died in Bruree.
    Tim Hannon (Rambling Tady) is a great poet. He is a teacher at Effin, Kilmallock. He was born at Forty Acres, Bruree. He sends poems and other things to the Limerick Leader. He composed “The Boys of the Forge road” etc. He is a story-teller two.
    James Connolly was a poet and story teller. He lived in Bruree about thirty years ago and died in a cottage now owned by Mrs O Brien. His brother John was also a poet and story teller and a great favourite at wakes etc. They also told good yarns. He was great for ghost stories and when in humour he would stay for hours at a time telling a story that would make one's blood creep.
    Some of the poets competed with one another. They composed verses in English in the papers
