- There was a great famine in Ireland, in the year 1846-47. Thousands of people died by the ditches from the hunger. There was a family in Highmount near Feenagh, in the year 1847, and a great sickness was raging in the district, called the Colera. It was a contagious sickness, and the neighbours were afraid to go near them, and the whole family died of the sickness. When they were all dead, the house fell in on them, and that field is called the Church Field. Where the house was, - a whitethorn tree is growing there now.
