  2. Ros-a-Lathaig (Rosslague) Forts cont.
    (northerly part of island of Cobh)
    At top of the hill (Rosslague Hill, or Mackey's Hill) was a fort. Situated in the field behind house now inhabited by a Mr. Tom Bird. (Farmer) His brother lived in it about 12 years ago. They knocked it down during farm operations. That evening the ploughman's horses (Dan Brien) fell going home. Strange to say - after a few years of married life - the former occupier's (Willie Bird) wife died and last year (1937) Mr. Tom Bird's wife lost her first born
