On Hallow E'en games are played in every house almost. In our house we hang an apple from the ceiling and each person tries to take a bite of it without the aid of his hands. Whosoever suceeds in doing so gets the apple. Sometimes the apples are scarce and they cannot play that game but a basin of cold water is got instead and money is put into it. Then on his turn each child "ducks" for it with his hands behind his back.
On the "Twelfth Day" after Christmas a cake of cow-dung and ashes is made and twelve candles are stuck into it. Then these are lighted and while they are lighting the Rosary is said. The candle are assigned to the people of the house and the first candle that quenches who ever owns it is said to die first in the house.- Bailitheoir
