    "Cuckoo oats and woodcock hay makes the farmer run away."
    The wren builds a peculiar sort of nest in the sides of thick fences. There is only a very small side entrance and the inside is round like a pot
    The sparrow usually builds its nest under the roofs of old barns, and there she lays her eggs and hatches her young ones.
    The lark builds her nest in the meadows and also the corncrake. Some consider the corncrake a migratory bird but it is now known that she sleeps during the Winter months. She has very long legs, and hops carelessly along the grass.
    The blackbird builds her nest in the orchard where she is sure to come upon a ripe cherry or strawberry. She often builds it also beside gorse or furze bushes.
    If little boys rob birds' nests it is believed that they will be afflicted with some disease - usually disease of the arms or legs
