Meat was very seldom used. Colcannon was made on special occasions & eaten late at night. Pancakes were another special food. Eggs were eaten in great numbers on Easter Sunday. Tea became the custom about one hundred years ago. - The table was always put n the middle of the floor when they were eating their meals & when it was not being used it was hung up against the wall.

- They used oats, wheat, rye & barley, ground & made into bread. Children were fed on porridge & boiled fish.
The corn was ground by means of querns. - Oaten-bread was eaten. It was made on the griddle.
