    As they were crossing the hill of
    Knochaleegan the giant sighted them,
    and hurled the three great pillar stones
    after them. The youths escaped, but the three pillar stones remained stuck on top of the hill to "prove that the tale is true".

    Substance of story related by Pete Dowd of Knockaleegan. Pete and his ancestors, beyond the knowledge of anyone, lived on the summit of Knocleegan.
    Pete heard the tale from his grandfather Larry Dowd long since dead. The concluding words above are his.
