    1. Saint Attracta was born in Ulster. Her father was a Chieftain named Talchan. Talchan wanted her to marry a rich man but she wanted to be a nun, so she stole away and came to the plains of Boyle. She built her first Church where the Abbeytown Convent Chapel is at present. She built a Church also at Killaraght.
    Saint Patrick consecrated her a nun near Killaraght. She had no veil and Saint Patrick prayed and a veil of snowy whiteness fell from Heaven on Patrick's shoulders and he gave it to Attracta.
