  2. My Home District
    The name of my home district is Miltown. It is situated about 3½ miles from the town of Newbridge in the parish of Allen, the barony of Connel, Co. Kildare. There are about seventeen families in Miltown and there are about 100 people in it. The family name most common is Byrne.
    The roofs of the houses are made of slates, but there are some thatched houses in it also.
    There was a mill in this townland and it was from this that that it got the name of Miltown.
    There are very few old people in this townland and not many of them can tell stories. None of the natives have any knowledge of Irish. The only Irish in it is that which
