Droichead Nua, Co. Kildare. - 1.People always decorate their homes at Christmas time, with holly and ivy and some coloured papers, and sometimes they hang balloons on branches of ivy.
2.On Christmas Eve the young children hang their stockings on the foot of the bed, and on Christmas morning they will be full of toys and dainty things.
3. Most people in this locality make plum puddings and sweet cakes for Christmas and the first one is eaten on Christmas Day.
4. At Christmas people send send presents and gifts to their friends.
5. They also send letters and Christmas cards to greet one another and to make one another happy, joyful and merry.
6. Most people have big dinners on Christmas Day and they have some kind of meat on that day they do not have very often the rest of the year.
7. It is a custom for all people to spend Christmas in their own home.
