  1. In a marsh field about a mile outside Cluanbolg there may be seen a huge stone and here is the legend connected with it.
    Long ago there lived in this village a very rich man called Brian Mor on account of his huge size. He had an only daughter a very beautiful girl named Noona. About nine miles from Cluanbolg near Croghan Hill there lived a young man named Tiernan OByrne. One day while out riding he saw Noona and there and then resolved to win her for his bride. He set out for Brian's castle and when he stated his errand Brian said "The man who wins my daughter wins a priceless treasure: he who claims her hand must be possessed of strength and power above the ordinary".
