  1. Long ago if a person had mumps some one would lead them under a briar that had wo sides growing down into the ground.
    The cure for warts was a fasting spittle put on it each morning
    The cure for whooping cough is to get bread or any other gift (eatable) from a married pair who have the same name.
    The cure for rickets is to wash the child in the trough belonging to the blacksmith before sunrise
    The cure for a sprain is to hold the sprained part in a running stream.
    Bog water was used to wash sore feet
    Bog water is also good for chilblains, corns and bunions
    Forge water is good for the feet.
    Dock is used for a cold. It is boiled and the juice is used
    Onions are boiled in milk and the milk is taken to cure a cold.
    Nettles are used for rheumatism. They are boiled and the juice is drunk.
    Seeds of dock are boiled and are eaten to cure cancer.
