    When they entered in the slaughter-house.
    Fee struck a cruel blow
    With an awful cry poor Flanagan.
    He reeled unto the floor.
    Then the murderer cut his throat
    And laid him in his gore.
    He buried him with candle light
    And strewed his clothes with lime
    Expecting that there would be no trace
    Of the body or the crime.
    He built a dunghill on the top.
    And felt all was secure.
    Until one day two lads there came.
    To draw away manure.
    And one of them he sunk the fork.
    Much deeper in the ground.
    Unto the boy's amazement a human foot he found.
    He flung his fork in horror.
    And off he dashed in fright.
    He told the police who came around
    And arrested Fee that night
    Two monaghan jurors disagreed
    Though brave and honest men.
    For the murder of Flanagan
    Joe Fee was tried again
