- One time there was a fox, who thought he could run faster than another animal. One day he was thirsty and came to a pond to drink, and a frog was sitting on the bank. The frog began to croak at him, and the fox said, "be of or I will eat you." Then the frog said, "I can run faster than you." Then the fox laughed and said, "well, we will both run to the next gate and see, who will be there first.
Then the fox looked all round, and as he was doing so, the frog jumped on his tail, and the fox began to run. The fox run to the (pond) gate, not knowing that the frog was on his tail. When the fox reached the gate, he looked behind, and saw no sign of the frog. Then he laughed at the idea of the frog trying to beat him a race, and as he looked round the frog jumped inside the gate, and when the fox saw him, he did not know what to say, and that is how the frog won the race.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile) - Bailitheoir
