  1. Rathrippon in the Barony of Tirerrill, Parish of Ballysodare, Co. Sligo, is my home district. It got its name from a fort in the neighbourhood.
There are nine families in my townland. The approximate number of inhabitants is about thirty one. Everyone of the houses is slated. There is only one old woman living in my townland, she is a Mrs Healy and is aged eighty two years. She has no knowledge of Irish but she can tell stories in English.
The houses are not so numerous now as in former years. Several families emigrated to America, England and Scotland.
Most of the land in the townland is good. There is a wood called "Markree Wood", it occupies about four acres. The is only one river connected with Markree, it is called the Arrow.
