- Flax:-
The flax seeds were sown in Spring and when ripe, the flax was pulled and made into stooks like carn. After a day or two the flax was bogged that is it was left in a bog-hole for nine or ten days then it was taken home and spread out in a field to dry, it was turned several times like hay and then it was made into big bundles. Then a huge fire was made in a shady nook and a hurdle was placed over this fire with the bundles of flax upon it, when the flax was thoroughly dry it was bittled - that is all the hulls were removed and the remainder was called fibre.
