  1. Nowadays as in former times before as match was made an account was sent to the party concerned. Then a meeting was arranged and the parents and a friend or two made a match. If all is settled to their mutual satisfaction the day is fixed for the marriage.
    The parents go to town about a week before hand to pay over the fortunes, and to buy the clothes. If there is to be a wedding the friends are invited, and they who have flocks of geese send one or two, and a flitch of bacon etc. On
