The cowhouse is made of stones and mortar. with a thatched roof. It is called a byre. The cows are tied to stakes. Those that have no horns are tied round the neck. and those that have are tied round them.
Some tyings are made of ropes and others are made of chains. A palm branch is placed above the cowhouse door and also St. Brigid's cross.
Horses are tied by the neck in the stable. Their fodder is put in a manger. It consists of straw and upland hay. Horses get shod as often as the old shoes are done.
When we are calling the hens to give them their food we call them by the name. Tuk! Tuk! Tuk! When we call the ducks we say. Tweet! Tweet! Hen eggs
