- In the olden times the people sowed plenty of corn and when it was cut it was ground at home by means of a quern. The old people say Querns were two round grindstones with a hole through the bottom one and a handle in the top one to go through the hole. the wheat and corn were ground between them.
When the meal was made they made oaten bread out of it. It was made of all pure oaten meal and when kneading water was put in. It was not put into an oven because it would break. It was placed in front(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
