- The name of the Townland in which I live is Woodlands in the Parish of Raphoe.
There are eight families in Woodlands and about 40 people.
The most common family names are McCobb and McCausland.
There are two tiled houses. two half thatched and half slated. three slated houses and one thatched.
This downland got the name of Woodlands partly because it is a well wooded part of the country.
Houses were more numerous locally in former times and the old houses have disappeared completely.
Some people emigrated to America and some to Australia.
Some of the land is hilly but most of it is good.
There is a wood about 17 acres in the townland.
It belonged to the Duke of Abercorn. It was cut down about 40 years ago and was never re-planted again.- Bailitheoir
