- The wren is one of the smallest wild birds in this country. It stays with us all the year round like the robin, the blackbird and the thrush.
It is a brown bird with a short tail which always sticks up straight.
It makes its nest in a bush or in a hole or in an old house. The nest is made of moss and is lined with wool and hair. The nest is not like any other bird's nest. It is round with a little hole in the side.
It lays eighteen or nineteen eggs and sometimes more. They are white and very small.
