  1. Old Crafts
    Before the invention of modern machinery every town in Ireland had its different craftsman. A family of Mc Evoys used to make their living by making nails in a house opposite the Post office in Swords.
    They made the nails by putting a long bar of Iron into the fire and left it there until it was red-hot. Then they would take it out with a tongs and lay it on the anvil. They hammered one end of the iron to a point. Then they cut the pointy piece off and hammered the top of it until there was a head on it. Then the nail was made.
    The nailer was commonly known as "Neddy the Nailer".
