- About the time Bigham came to Loughmask (1171) (bastl?) the fairies were very plentiful around it.
Round the castle there were fine fat calves, and in the fort above the avenue there were great numbers of fairies.
One morning when the herd got up to look at the cattle one of them was dead. During the day he skinned it and brought the skin to bong to sell it.
In his way back from bong he met a man on the road, who asked him in to the fort.
He went in and when he arrived ten small fairies took his horse and put him in the stall, while a few others carried beef to himself on a plate.
When he has his supper eaten he started to get ready for home. Then he began to thank them for all they had done for him
The man that invited him in said:-
"We should be thankful to you for (nearing?) that fine fat calf for us to be eating, so don't thank us.
