Henry Curry was a great waker. He used to walk from Belcarra to Ballaghaderren a journey of forty miles with his pike on his shoulder. He became the lead of the Fenians in Connaught. The fenians were a secret society. No priest would give them confession or communion. One day Henry Curry got sick and they sent for Canon Gibbons to anoint him but he would not go. Henry died and he was buried in Elmhall. There is a large monument over his grave and his name is on it on Irish.
