In one of Tom Bambury's fields in the townlands of Gale, Listowel there was a fort. The farmer who owned the land at that time was married and had one son. His wife died when the child was about two years old. Years after, the farmer got married again and as the little child grew up the step-mother was very harsh to him and when he was eight years old, she used to send him out herding cattle in the field that the fort was in. On a certain day it was very wet and cold and his clothes were all torn. He was herding cattle in the fort fields and a woman came out of the fort and called him and she took out a needle and thread and she stitched his clothes and went back into the fort again. When the boy went home that evening his father was the first to notice how tidy his clothes were. When the little boy saw his father looking at him, he told him what happened. His father asked him to describe the woman to him
