  1. The rock of Muff is situated between Kingscourt and Baillieboro about two miles from Kingscourt. An annual fair is held there on the 12th August. In olden times cattle, sheep, pigs and horses were sold in the fair where upwards of thirty publicans tents with music and dancing were erected on the rock where hundreds would assemble and enjoy the day.
On the Sunday before the fair a pattern was held at the Loughanlea mountain about a mile distant with races and dancing which would lasy till the fair. In recent years only horses are sold in Muff and only one public tent is there. Muff horse fair is said to be the best in Cavan during the year.

The priest was released but in the fight two young men were killed. On the day of Rielly's (who was one of the men who were killed) funeral in Kilann it is said thirty thousand Catholics assembled and marched to the graveside each man carrying a white rod in each hand. The house where the priest was when released is there still and is said to be the first slated house on the Pratt estate.
