   The iron being heated with turf. The man who wanted wheels shod had to bring a load of turf for the purpose.
   The water in the trough is supposed to cure warts.
   Smiths are remarkably strong men, with great muscular arms.
   Their forges were always a place of gossip and storytelling. Some of those men were real humorous characters.
   The anvil and sledge is always in use in the forge. So is the bellows. They have several other implements like rasps, pincers, hammers, knives etc.
   All those blacksmiths took apprentices and taught them the trade. Tis now nearly extinct in the country.

   Bernard Lynch after learning his trade in Farrell's forge went travelling looking for work. He was not long on the road when he struck up with another travelling blacksmith. They had just 2D each and on feeling hungry went into a village inn to have a bowl of soup. It only cost 2D then. The soup was boiling hot and the
