  1. In this district there is one tailor and his name is Peter Smith of Moher. The people come from far and near to him and he makes all their clothes, he does not travel from house to house they all come to him. He has a small room of his own and when the people come to him they bring the cloth and some-times he keeps cloth and always has a good supply of buttons for every kind of suits. The instruments he has is a thimble needle and pressing iron and a table and sissors. He keeps spools of every kind and when the people come he takes their measure with a tape. With he is sewing he sits on the table with his legs cross-ways he works all day long.
There is a spinning wheel in Ann Smith's of Moher and long ago there was a spinning wheel in Murray's of Straugh where Plunkett's house is now. In Murrays went on for years and every body went to it. They knit stockings also. When the people want to make shirts they buy the stuff and make them, themselves. When a person dies the members of the family wear a black patch on their sleves and the grand people buy a black-out fit.
