- Long ago the people of this country lived on what they could produce them-selves. The foods they ate were fish, meat, honey and a coarse kind of bread. They had four meals each day their breakfast, their dinner, their tea and their supper. The people also made boxty in olden times and they made a great deal of it at Hallow Eve.The people of this country hold many feasts. They hold a feast on the day before Ash Wednesday and they eat a lot of pan-cakes. On Easter Sunday a great deal of eggs are eaten.
