- Abot the year 1888 there were terrible Storms. It happened that there was a fall of Snow which lasted for a fortnight and was about seven feet deep. The roads and fields were all blocked and the people from the countryside were nearly starving because they could not get to town. There were a large number of sheep and lambs lost. The men that went to search were also lost. A man named Whelan from Roscatt(continues on next page)
