    Penal Times:-
    Fr. Moran, dressed in ordinary clothes, used to say Mass at the "Black Fort". Paddy Dolan (author) discovered an underground tunnel from his sand-pit across the road. This is supposed to have been his place.
    Above is a photo of the unveiling of '98 monument in Ballinamuck Aug. 1928. Ruins of the old barrack in back-round. Built 1835 by Lady Ross, it was blown up 1920.
