  1. The night of the big wind a great hurricane swept this country. Hay and oats were swept through the country. Great trees were torn up by the roots and sent through the country with the wind.It was said that the fish out of shallow lakes were swept out on the land. Many houses were knocked by the wind in the district. In the morning when the people were going to Mass there were two foot of snow on the ground. There were some small towns swept down by the wind and the people were starving for the want of food.
