    Thro' Monaduff & Barragh, he quickly took his way,
    Till he reached Drumshambo Curragh, just by the close of day.

    In under cover there he lay; an outlaw did remain,
    Till he went back to Fardromin, when peace it was proclaimed.
    He reached the ago of 85; then from this earth he passed,
    But his down-trodden country, he loved unto the last.
    And often in his heavy years, those words he used to say,
    "Boys" keep your pikes well sharpened; they may serve another day."
