of the barrack Sergeant Sheridan dropped a few threatening notices into the tramp's pocket concerning the burning of a cabin belonging to a farmer named Downes who was unpopular (0) because of purchasing some land in Quilty.
When the tramp got inside the door of the barrack he proved who he was to Sheridan and Mahoney.
Next day Sheridan and O'Mahoney had to attend the court at Miltown Malbay. That evening they both came home stripped of their uniforms and were dismissed.
The tramp was a detective sent from Scotland Yard to catch Sheridan.
