  1. There was a woman living in Feakle named Biddy Earley. This woman had a bottle and her brother is supposed to have left it to her when he was dying.
There was a man living near the parish of Kildysart named Garry who had a race-horse and this race-horse was named Biddy Earley. He had often raced but had never won any one of the races. Then he brought her to the next races and as he was journeying to a race meeting he met Biddy and he asked her how was it that his horse had never won a race yet and "she answered and said that it was on account of the horse was named Biddy Earley and that as long as the horse was named Biddy Earley she would never win". Then he made a promise that he would change the horse's name to "Jacks Only Daughter" and he did. She won at the races that day and also on the following day because the horse's name being changed.
