    Some years ago there lived a family named Bradshaw.

    Some years ago there lived a family named Bradshaw. The man of the house was out ploughing in the garden one spring day and his little daughter went out to call him to dinner and she remained in the field after him. After a little while a woman dressed in a flannel skirt and a plaid shawl came towards the little girl and spoke very friendly to her. She asked her why she was not attending school of late" Ah" you may blame yourself for that" she said "but if you take my advice I will make a strong girl of you". Taking a packet from her pocket she told her to take one table-spoon of this mixture three times a day and do not be staying out late at night. Yourself and two others stayed up late one Saturday night lately ye made tea and you went out to the churn for milk that's the night you got your "faircen" I must go now but meet me here tomorrow again. The little girl met her as appointed. She told her she should go away from home to some friend of her father
