  1. The "Brat Brigde" is a ribbon that is hung out on Saint Brigid's Eve.
    "Easter Water" is water that is blessed by the priest on Easter Saturday.
    Long ago people had great respect for the "Michaelmas Goose" also the Christmas goose or turkey and they would be terribly disappointed if they could not have either for state occasions.
    A short time before Christmas, holly was brought home without fail and the house decorated with it. If there was red berries on the holly it was believed that we would have a hard cold winter.
    A Christmas pudding was usually kept for the Epiphany.

    On the 24th July people go to Ardmore and take home some clay from St Declan's grave. It is said that if you would be crossing the sea, you would never get drowned if you had a bit of this clay in your possession.
