- (continued from previous page)noticed a blight coming on the potatoes. All of them were destroyed. The people were dying of starvation. The most of them died at the sides of the roads and in the fields. Thousands of them went to the poor houses but there was not room for them all. Sometimes lorries of corpses going off to be buried were seen.
